Scapa 16 yo
Isle of Orkney
40% ABV
£52.75 from here
Colour: Lemon tea
Nose: Banana custard, lemon meringue, blueberry, cheesecake sweetness and layers of vanilla. Very pleasant and light yet complex. Top notch.
Palate: Spicy, cakey, slightly bitter… lives up to the nose.
Finish: Burst of espresso, lovely and powerful.
Overall: I have been looking forward to tasting this whisky since December. It is every bit as good as I expected it to be. It shows great maturity without overoaking, a truly rare breed. Full marks for the packaging too. Unfortunately it’s quite severely overpriced.
Person: Elizabeth Hurley – Refined and voluptuous . Dirty round the edges. High maintenance.

Il be honest, it was very well balanced. It was a good whisky, but I don’t think a great whisky. It just lacked something for me. I would like to try it again, because its worth revisiting Whiskies.
I just love Scapa….. not tried the 16yo but the 14yo is my fav whisky.
WEnt to Orkney last year and took a bottle of Scapa to the beach to watch the sunset – amazing!
Cheers
