Ireland is all tension tonight

I’m in Ireland, spending the night in the lovely Castlemartyr Resort ahead of tomorrow’s event at Midleton Distillery. Took a late flight from Edinburgh and walked into the hotel bar after midnight to find a host of whisky celebs sipping away on their Red Breasts and Green Spots. Everyone is here, guys. Think of  a whisky writer or blogger and he or she is most probably under this roof. This makes me excited, nervous, sleepless… Speculations are running high and as bottles of Irish whiskey are diminishing behind the bar, conspiracy theories are getting wilder and wilder.

One thing is for sure, we are not here to be shown the new Red Breast packaging. Nor is it about the whiskey mysteriously changing its appellation from ‘pure pot still’ to ‘single pot still’. This is about something more exciting.

My itinerary says ‘Single Pot Still Whiskeys of Midleton’ on the top so could there be a new Red Breast in the pipeline? A brand new product perhaps? Single cask range?

Whatever it is you will be amongst first to know. Keep an eye on the blog and our Twitter tomorrow. I have a good feeling about this one.
