EWB’s 5th Birthday Bash

EWB Birthday Poster 1

2014. Holy shit. How did that happen? It seems like only a few weeks ago I sat down to write an article about EWB turning 4 years old and here I am writing another one about our humble little blog’s upcoming 5th birthday bash. The past twelve months have certainly flown past, and not just because we spent most of them drunk.

We released our own That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottling, we’ve been involved in a number of whisky festivals throughout the central belt including the inaugural Whisky Lounge Edinburgh, The Whisky Stramash, Whisky Fringe and Glasgow’s Whisky Festival, we hosted a cracking VIP tasting at Ruffians in aid of Movember, we were voted one of the top ten alcohol blogs in the UK by Cision and we’ve thrown testicle-tightening tastings for Heriot Watt University’s Malt Whisky Society and Edinburgh University’s Water of Life Society (WOLS). WOLS even went as far as awarding us the accolade of ‘Best Tasting’ of the semester on three consecutive occasions. These plaques now hang proudly in my bathroom. Yeah… that’s how rock ‘n’ roll I am.

However, there have also been several obstacles and delicate situations which we’ve had to overcome. I’ve once again had to formally deny that I’m the biological father of Prince George, whilst Hoban had to quash rumours that he’s the man with whom Tom Daley is in a relationship. We’ve had to pay a substantial amount of money to Wikileaks to ensure Edward Snowden doesn’t leak sensitive NSA information to the press regarding the real reason behind Graeme’s recent relocation to London. Lucas got involved in a bitter Twitter spat with Miley Cyrus after he out-twerked her at ‘Jameson Live’ in Ireland and Turbo has had to refute allegations that he’s been moonlighting as a security guard at Gatwick Airport, despite some quite damning evidence.

Turbo claims this image has been photoshopped and that it’s not really him…

However, we’ve all made it through to another blog birthday, and in true Edinburgh Whisky Blog fashion we would like to invite you to celebrate that achievement with us.

Date: Monday 17th February
Place: Michael Neave Kitchen & Whisky Bar
Time: 7pm

Everyone is welcome to come along and drink awesome whisky, eat fantastic cake, listen politely to a couple of shit speeches, dance like an idiot and generally have fun. What better way to spend a Monday night?

Tiger, Hoban, Lucas, Graeme & Turbo
