Autumn brings with it several whisky festivals; the usual suspects in London and Glasgow, as well as newer, independent ones in Stirling, Dundee and Aberdeen. I’ve often thought that the number of whisky festivals in the central belt is more than a tad disproportionate (Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival and Feis Ile notwithstanding), given that the vast majority of single malt whisky is produced elsewhere, so it’s great to see more local whisky festivals flourishing in other parts of the country. Having said that, with whisky festivals popping up all over the place, there’s a danger one could suffer from ‘festival fatigue’, so a carefully picking and choosing which festivals one attends is key… which brings me to Whisky Mash.
This festival, organised by the good folks at CASC Bar (short for Cigars, Ales, Scotch and Coffee), was first set up in 2015 and has grown in stature year on year, gaining a dedicated following along the way, and it’s not hard to see why. Tickets are well priced, there’s an excellent range of exhibitors, and the atmosphere is fantastic. You can expect independent bottlers, single cask releases, and limited editions, as well as ‘under the table drams’. Money well spent in my opinion. Here’s the deets:

If you’re in town, get yourself along!
