We might be on lockdown and in the middle of a global pandemic, but that hasn’t stopped the whisky world coming up with some inventive ways of celebrating Father’s Day (which is this Sunday, June 21st, in case it had slipped your mind). As happens every year at EWB, we get quite a few emails and press releases sent to us from brands and retailers detailing their Father’s Day offerings. Here are a few which stood out this year…

Dram along with director Adam Park and whisky rockstar Dave Broom as they provide commentary and answer your questions during an online screening of their award-winning documentary, which discusses the cultural relationship between our country and our national drink.
As well as whisky, each tasting pack includes a free, private link to view the film on Vimeo streaming service with Dave and Adam’s commentary will be streamed on YouTube at the same time – I’d recommend watching the documentary on a laptop and streaming their chat on your phone. Alternatively, if you can’t be arsed with their chat (although I can’t imagine why, Dave’s dulcet tones are a treat for the ears) you can just drink along and enjoy this brilliant documentary. Glengoyne Virtual Tour & Tasting £35
Missing the sights, sounds, and smells of a working distillery? Glengoyne are bringing their distillery tour into your (virtual) home. Over the course of an hour, a member of the distillery team will delve into the distillery’s rich history, walk you round the distillery, talk you through their unique whisky-making process, and finish on a virtual tasting of four Glengoyne whiskies; the 10yo, 12yo, 18yo, and a mystery dram which will be revealed during the tasting.
Each tour lasts one hour and can be booked as part of a group or private experience. Those purchasing the experience (which can be done here) will receive a sampling kit delivered to their home containing a whisky glass, and minis of each of the whiskies.
Kingsbarns Virtual Tasting £44.95
I was fortunate enough to tour Kingsbarns early last year when they launched their rather tasty flagship expression; ‘Dream to Dram’. Wolfburn have released a Father’s Day limited edition whisky, matured solely in oloroso sherry hogsheads. This cask strength expression is said to be rich, sweet, creamy, and full-bodied, with distillery manager Iain Kerr describing it as: “A wonderfully smooth, rich and enjoyable dram.” Get a bottle here.
