Lukasz Dynowiak (aka Lucas) moved to Scotland from a sleepy town Poland in 2005 to study tourism and after graduating decided to stay in Edinburgh to drink excessively and steal British jobs. During his time at uni he worked at The Scotch Whisky Experience for a while, a common theme for Edinburgh Whisky Blog editors. Together with Chris Hoban he conceived the blog in December 2008 and gave man-birth to it the following month. Article after article Lucas built himself a reputation of a rather ruthless and irreverent son of a gun, the bad cop of the site if you like. And so when the time came in 2010 to find a proper job he had little problem bullying a major whisky producer into letting him look after some digital stuff for a few brands. No one really understands what he does, not even his employers, which seems to suit Lucas just fine. He is reported to have recently submitted a receipt for a garden hose with his expenses and gotten it signed off. Various sources suggest he spends most of the time in his pyjamas and rarely gets up before noon. Others doubt his existence altogether. One thing is for sure, he has a beautiful wife and a wee son (born August 2011).
Most recently Lucas contributed to the great '1001 Whiskies to Try Before You Die' and judged World Whiskies Awards 2012. He was also dubbed a 'fucking immigrant' by a Glasgow cabbie, which seems only fair.
