Jameson Triple Triple

Jameson header article

That’s not a typo. The double ‘triple’, or ‘Triple Triple’, if you will, refers firstly to Jameson’s triple distillation regime, and secondly to the three types of casks used to create their newest release, the… erm… Triple Triple. This Jameson expression, exclusively available in duty free, is matured in a combination of bourbon casks, sherry casks and Malaga wine casks, just to add an extra layer of flavour to the blend.

Billy Leighton, Master Blender at Midleton Distillery, commented: “At Jameson, we’ve known that good things come in threes ever since John Jameson set up his distillery on Bow Street in Dublin and introduced the world to triple-distilled Jameson Irish Whiskey. Jameson Triple Triple is no exception to this rule. Our single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys have been further enhanced through triple cask maturation to create an exciting new taste experience.”

Irish Blended Whiskey
Bourbon, Sherry & Malaga wine casks

40% ABV
€32 RRP for 1 Litre

Nose: Lemon peel, candy sticks, vanilla, icing sugar, and fresh sawdust. Then some apricot, plum and toffee apples.

Palate: Soft, stewed orchard fruits, with gummy bears, apple chews, barley sugars, caramel wafers and marshmallow.

Finish: Touch of woodspice, with nougat and cinder toffee.

Overall: A very easy drinking, great value dram. The use of those Malaga wine casks adds a wee twist to the classic Jameson character, adding some stewed fruit notes and a bit of depth to the whisky. Considering you can pick up a litre of this for under £30 at duty free, it’s excellent value, and a dram which will make a great base for experimenting and mixing with.

  1. Hi there,

how do you distill triple distilled grain whiskey?

    And why should you?

  2. Hi Kallaskander,
The triple distillation part refers solely to the malt component of the blend.
    Cheers,
    Chris

  3. Hi there,

    “Good Things Come in Threes.
It’s a belief that’s served us well in distillation, so we gave it a try with maturation.
Jameson has always brought new friends to the table, so this time our Bourbon and Sherry casks were introduced to hand-selected Málaga casks.
Extending this invitation has resulted in a new triple cask Jameson taste experience bringing notes of orchard fruits and fresh citrus to the fore.

Triple Distilled, now Triple Cask matured, for a subtle sweetness and extra drop of smoothness.”

That is misleading to put it politely. There is no distinction made between the malt the pure pot still and the grain whiskies involved as far as distillation is concerned.
Jameson evokes the impression that the whole Triple Triple is three times distilled. Deliberately.

    Greetings
